Solid mahogany and rosewood sideboard c.1961
Solid mahogany and rosewood sideboard c.1961
A wonderful British sideboard dated and signed in pencil 11/4/61 on the rear of the top drawer in fab restored condition. Its a non standard size at 6ft 3 or 190.5cm and given the materials used and its construction this is highly likely to be a one off cabinetmaker piece. Its wonderfully made – the top, sides, base, legs, drawer frames and shelves are all constructed from planks of solid mahogany – its a heavy piece. The cupboard doors and drawer fronts are veneered in a rich contrasting rosewood finished with all solid brass detailing, its a subtly styled and incredibly elegant piece. The top drawer is sectioned and felt lined, the right cupboard features 2 adjustable / removable shelves (one slim) and the left features one shelf again adjustable / removable. This is an outstanding piece of British design and craftsmanship and probably a unique, one of a kind piece – we love it!
190.5cm width x 48cm depth x 76cm height.
