Very rare G-Plan modular stool/planter in Tibor Reich Sweetcorn c.1961
Very rare G-Plan modular stool/planter in Tibor Reich Sweetcorn c.1961
A very rare opportunity to buy a fabulous low and long footstool / plant trough combination produced as part of a G-Plan range of modular furniture produced from c.1961-63. The range featured square framed and ebonised bases with polished brass feet and numerous interchangeable units - coffee table tops, drawer units, bookcases, drinks cabinet and as seen in this instance - two cushions and a black plastic plant trough (see last pics for catalogue images). Fully restored, ebonised and lacquered frame with new period correct Tibor Reich ‘Sweetcorn’ upholstery to the cushions. The original plastic trough has been strengthened to the underside lip and retains its original solid wooden frame that simply sits on top of the base unit and can be easily moved. This is the only example of this combination of units I have ever seen and is now in fabulous condition - just some light scuffs, marks and discolouration on the plastic trough as you’d expect. A simply fabulous and exceptionally rare piece restored with love - you will not find another example for sale.
183cm (6ft) wide x 46cm depth x 43cm height / each section is 61cm wide / the base of the trough measures 45cm wide x 30cm depth x 13cm height.
