Gordon Russell modernist Group 3 easy chair 1970
Gordon Russell modernist Group 3 easy chair 1970
A wonderful example of late mid-century modernist British design produced as part of the GR70 collection by Gordon Russell designed by Ray Leigh, Trevor Chinn and Martin Hall in 1970. This Group Three easy chair model R228 features a solid angular beech frame with an angled and suspended Pirelli webbing seat base and a fixed curved back. Low-slung and wonderfully proportioned this chair is a rare survivor of this little seen range. Fully restored and newly upholstered in a combination of gorgeous dark olive green wool boucle from Bute and a subtly contrasting back in green velvet that works beautifully with the pale beech frame - just the odd tiny mark and bruise only visible on very close inspection. A striking and comfortable modernist design that makes a real statement - try and find another!
