Beautiful handmade solid mahogany and sycamore display cabinet c.1970
An absolute gem and one of a kind this beautifully designed and lovingly crafted display cabinet was hand made in 1970 as an ‘A’ Level woodworking exam piece at a Nottinghamshire Gramma school and was not surprisingly awarded an A grade. Sourced from the maker and lovingly cared for its entire life with only very light signs of use it presents beautifully - the contrast between the rich mahogany and pale sycamore is just gorgeous. Constructed throughout in solid timber with mahogany carcass and legs and panelled sycamore back it displays all the exam requirements of the day - mortise and tenon, mitre and dovetail joints, inlaid sycamore to the front edge, routed and shaped edges and recess, shaped handles, button fixings hand made shelf supports, etc, etc… its 100% handmade… A wonderful example of traditional woodworking skills executed to a very high standard. This is a very reluctant sale, and I may yet end up keeping it so be quick if you want to own this fabulous piece of British design and craftsmanship - perfect for displaying your most treasured collectables.
