1950's rosewood, walnut and black desk by A.Younger Ltd

£995.00

A striking 1950’s designed desk with overhanging top, elegant ebonised legs and five drawers with brass detailing and an ebonised Ercol chair perfect for the home office. Originally produced as a dressing table as part of the Dorchester range designed by John J.Herbert for A.Younger Ltd. in 1957 the piece features a top and carcass veneered in a richly figured paldao walnut with drawer fronts in rosewood with ebonised legs with brass detailing. Full professional restoration the piece presents beautifully with just the odd tiny mark and ding only visible on very close inspection. One of the brass handles is also missing its small brass back plate - but most people won’t even notice. Paired with a generously proportioned vintage Ercol chair that has been fully ebonised and lacquered - the combination works perfectly together. A great set - this is the first and only piece I’ve ever seen from this particular range by Younger, in 1957 this piece would have cost almost £41, a considerable sum at that time.
