Very rare Gordon Russell sideboard by WH 'Curly' Russell c.1958

£1,995.00

An absolutely gorgeous and very, very rare sideboard designed by WH ‘Curly’ Russell for Gordon Russell of Broadway c.1958. Wonderfully made with all solid timber core construction and finished in a striking combination of teak carcass and legs with four drawers finished in prima vera (with recessed handles on the underside) and four cupboards in Indian Laurel with steel handles. The stunning combination of materials, subtle detailing and finish throughout is outstanding.

Presented following a full professional restoration all exterior surfaces have been newly lacquer finished as per original and apart from the odd tiny ding and nibble (only visible on very, very close inspection) is in fabulous condition. One of the drawers is felt lined and sectioned for cutlery whilst the four cupboards all include a solid timber shelf that is height adjustable / removable. This is the only example of this rare sideboard design from this range that I’ve ever seen - the combination of materials and detailing is really very, very special. Matching bureau is also available.

173cm width x 89.5cm height x 42cm depth.
